I had no idea that Weekly Geeks had been revived, so I'm glad I came along for the second edition. The Book Zombie asked:
I joined rather late in the Weekly Geeks game, but I had known of all Dewey's goings-on through our friendship on another site. When I started reading her blog regularly, I knew I needed to get in on some of the bloggy fun she was having with all these book nerds! I didn't participate often, but I loved reading all of the posts from other members. My favorite posts were ones with pictures. For those who have been with the group, either from the start or joined within recent months, what does being a member mean to you? What do you enjoy about the group? What are some of your more memorable Weekly Geeks that we might could do again? What could be improved as we continue the legacy that Dewey gave us?
For those just joining us, why did you sign up for Weekly Geeks? What would you like to see here?
I think about Dewey every day and it's still hard to believe that she's gone. I think about her when I knit because we talked a lot about our projects. I think about her when I see plant yarns because she couldn't knit with anything else. I think about her when I post pictures or talk about my boys because she loved seeing and hearing about them. I think about her when I read the blogs I started following because of her, and I think about her whenever I log into Reader and there aren't any new posts under her blog title.
I thought a lot about her today, especially, because we basically had an all-night internet party on election night where we kept tabs on which states were blue or red. It was so much fun and I know that we would've had another internet party today in honor of the inauguration.
My Weekly Geeks posts will be placed in this review blog from now on since this is where I'll be posting my book reviews. I hope that I'm able to participate often and I look forward to meeting some new Weekly Geeks.
